Fall 2: Deadpoint

Clip out, because you're better off getting some rest
Fall 2: Deadpoint starts with a very quick introduction to the sister. I am not sure whether she was ever mentioned in the previous movie, since I have not seen it, but from the very beginning she feels like a deus ex machina. She exists because this movie needs her to exist.
Anyway, the plot thickens.
No, wait. It actually does not.
The plot is bland and the story feels like it was written by a toddler. The entire movie could be summarized with one word: mediocre.
The actors might have been its only saving grace, but the writing gives them almost nothing to work with. The characters are written so flatly that it is difficult to tell whether the actors themselves are any good. The side-characters feel so unimportant that I don't even feel like mentioning them.
This movie could have been ten minutes long. Instead, it stretches almost every event into an excessively dramatic sequence, apparently in an attempt to give the characters depth. It does not work.
The characters remain shallow for the entire runtime, and there is very little to relate to.
They get stuck, which is not a spoiler if you have seen the trailer, on a wooden platform barely wide enough for them to sit on. Despite that, they casually move around as though they were standing on a studio floor with no meaningful risk of slipping or falling (I wonder why).
At one moment, the danger barely seems to matter. Then the next cut suddenly expects you to feel enormous tension about exactly the same situation.
The movie is full of inconsistencies like this.
Multiple days pass, yet the characters apparently never eat, drink and never need to use the toilet. An injury is treated incorrectly, bleeding is conveniently no longer a problem, infection does not exist, and shortly afterward the character is effectively back to, "Ahaha, I'm fine."
That is roughly the level of consequence the movie gives most of its problems.
The main character also reminds me of Lindsay Lohan for some reason. This has absolutely nothing to do with the review. I just felt like saying it.
I will give the movie one thing: some of the views are genuinely pretty. There are also moments where the height and positioning of the characters can make you physically uncomfortable if you have even a little empathy for what you are seeing.
Unfortunately, that is about as far as the immersion goes.
The sound design is basic and functional.
The music is much more noticeable because it is constantly being used to manufacture drama. In several scenes, if you removed the music, there would barely be any tension or emotion left at all.
The visuals are technically good, but there is nothing particularly memorable about them. They are simply fine.
That describes most of the movie, really.
The visuals are fine. The sound is fine. The acting might be fine. The music does most of the emotional work. The script drags everything else down.
Take away any one of those supporting elements and the result would simply Fall 2.
Fall 2: Deadpoint has very little originality, very little tension that feels earned, and very few characters worth caring about.
It is bland, predictable, and not particularly fun to watch.
