I’ve been working on a lot of new stuff - new software, new tools.
To spoil the surprise, we need to go back and bring in two short stories!
I mean, I’m closing in on releasing two new software solutions - one for fun, the other for work.
Let's start with the fun one:
My friend and I got a bit hyped over s[img:/img/inserts/blog/image_3.png]me Minecraft video, so he convinced my sorry ass to open Minecraft again after so many years.
We downloaded Hamachi, server jars, all that jazz, and started modded Minecraft - some Forge modpack.
It took us five hours to make it work and finally play. During those five hours, I even wrote a Python script to start all the stuff around the server (I was hosting the game).
Finally, we got it working... but my greedy, spoiled self just couldn’t leave it as it was.
I wanted a small UI with buttons to “start,” “stop,” or even “restart” the server.
Three small buttons - what could go wrong...
So in PYTHON I went and used some obscure library for UI and started building.
Wild. I didn’t like the way the front-end was being made, but who cares, it’s just 3 buttons... (*foreshadowing*)
Yeah... that bit my arse soon enough.
I am but a greedy boy.
So when I found other things I wanted the software to be able to do - like server settings - I started adding them.
I hate the front-end from Python, sincerely, it’s horrendous syntax and all, but it works.
In a few days, suddenly, from a few mere buttons, a little server manager was created.
That’s when I realized this was going to be a project I’d publish here and share.
(Please, support me - dang, it’s free labour right now!)
Anyways, long story short - I’ve made a complete server management solution:
Mod management, player management, settings, setup, backup + automatic backups, and basic controls.
In the upcoming days, expect a beta release. It needs testing from the public.
Be a love and please use the contact form if you find a bug. ❤️
And now to the work one!
I’ve been working with C# and WPF full-stack for about six years now, and I’ve gone through two implementations of language resources.
Both processes were... decent, but could be better.
So I set myself a goal to make a manager app that would help with (surprise) managing the resources for all languages.
The primary idea was to implement simple comparison functionality and... again, I needed more.
This time, I chose C# with WPF to build the application - so it has my beloved design with my weird pseudo-3D buttons and all that jazz.
I’ll be releasing this app a little later since it needs some more love and debugging, but it’s already proven helpful in solving differences between resources/languages in the software at my work.
Fun stuff.
I’m sorry to everyone waiting for photos to be edited or whom I promised any labour - I hope you understand my workload.
I am but a single man with a huge... stack of work.
And I do it for free, so consider supporting 😛
